Thrifted Thursday No. 40

Top: thrifted Sag Harbor
Skirt: thrifted Harvé Benard
Shoes: thrifted Cappagello
Lipstick: Revlon Fire & Ice

Oh boy, I never get tired of finding new-to-me short-sleeved sweaters in thrift stores! Yes, I’m very predictable. Also, if you knew where I work, you’d probably find it pretty funny that I dress like this. Let’s just say I’m employed by a retailer known for their, um, sexiness. Hint, hint.

And because I can’t stop taking pictures of my cat, here’s Zeus in front of our neighbors’ VW:

1 Skirt 4 Ways

So...another one of these posts. You know what that means: I haven’t had time for new outfit photos lately. But I do like looking back at the different ways I’ve worn something. This time I thought I’d feature my thrifted navy blue bebe skirt. I think this skirt must have been made in the ’90s, when bebe had a lot of workwear. It’s made of a nice crepe material and fits perfectly. I wish all my pencil skirts fit this well!

Comedy Night
Besides wearing this out to a comedy show with Jasen, I also wore it for a job interview at Disney Store’s corporate office, which is in Pasadena. I was trying to look kind of “Disney” by wearing colors from the Sleeping Beauty castle graphic. I didn’t get that job, but it turned out to be for the best since it was only part-time.

Of course I had to wear this skirt in an obvious nautical way too. Aww, and there’s my old gold Tignanello bag that I had to replace with a silver version after the original literally fell apart.

Thrifted Thursday No. 30
Looking at this again is reminding me that I need to wear these vintage shoes more often. They are pretty cool. Also, I’m glad I bought this sweater at Goodwill even though it’s by a kind of lame brand that I think is/was sold at JC Penney.

It's Not Easy Finding Green
I really like the colors of this outfit and that it’s mostly thrifted. The only problem with it is that that dang ruffle on the top makes it hard to layer with a cardigan, so I haven’t worn this to work again.

Think Pink

Sweater: Jessica Howard
Dress: vintage via Etsy
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Lipstick: Revlon Certainly Red

It was probably a little too dim for photos when Jasen took these of me after work today, but I had to show off this dress that I got as a birthday gift! It was on my Etsy favorites list, but I can’t remember what shop it came from because after it sold, I removed it from my favorites. Anyway, Natasha what shop did this come from? It’s so awesome! I love how real ’60s dresses have these great hourglass shapes and boatnecks, and the print reminds me of The Flintstones.

By the way, my birthday is on Sunday, in case you were wondering. I will be...31. Yep. I’ve been pretty stressed out about work and my crazy commute lately, but I’m hoping I can just relax and have a good time this weekend. It seems like it gets harder to do that every year.

Office Leopard

Shirt: thrifted Harvé Bénard
Sweater: thrifted Muni Basic
Skirt: River Island via Buffalo Exchange
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Lipstick: Revlon Certainly Red

This is a new skirt! And I’ve never had a leopard print one, so I think it’s pretty awesome. I like how it’s a modest length and pleated but then...leopard. I wore it to work today, and even though I work in the fashion industry where wearing a fluffy red faux fur coat or shorts with tights to the office is no big deal, I think a skirt like this could be worn in (some) more traditional offices too.

Also, a new cat has moved into our apartment building! I haven’t met her human(s) yet and don’t know her name, but she is so sweet. I had to follow her around this morning and try to get some pictures, even though she’s very active and hard to photograph.

Thrifted Thursday No. 39

Sweater: thrifted Alfred Dunner
Skirt: thrifted Dana Buchman
Shoes: thrifted Cappagello
Lipstick: Revlon Fire and Ice

It’s still hot in the L.A. area, but our office has been freezing lately, so I’ve been taking the opportunity to start wearing sweaters again because I’m sick of my summer clothes. I like how this outfit is made up of items from sort of, well, middle-aged lady brands yet kind of works. Well, I think so, although it would work better if there wasn’t a big crease in my skirt.

Tee Party

Top: Nordstrom Rack
Shorts: thrifted Banana Republic
Shoes: thrifted Jazzberry
Lipstick: Revlon Fire and Ice

I went shopping for a birthday gift for my mom about a month ago and came across this T-shirt when I was at Nordstrom Rack. It’s not the greatest quality, but I’m a sucker for polka dots and also loved the colors. This is what I wore on Saturday to run around prepping for my dad’s 60th birthday party and to the movies with Jasen. The party was on Sunday and turned out nice, but wow, it was one of those weekends after which you need another weekend.

Flowers and Wine

Top: thrifted, some ’90s brand
Skirt: thrifted Forever 21
Shoes: Urban Outfitters

This is the time of year when I start wanting to wear some fall colors because I can’t wear fall clothing because it’s the hottest month of the year in Southern California. I’ve always liked wine and berry shades, and I like that I’ve been seeing them kind of trending recently. They remind me of the ’90s, when I was in high school. I might have hated my life at the time, but there sure was a lot of cool fashion, women-playing-pianos music and coffee house culture that I miss today.

Cat Show

Last weekend I went to the annual Santa Monica Cat Show with two of my friends, and yes, it was fabulous. We’d been wanting to go for a couple years and were so excited to finally make it happen! If you’re ever in the area the last weekend of August (and obsessed with cats) I recommend checking it out. The judges were entertaining and informative, plus the cats seemed to enjoy being judged! Part of the judging for each cat involved play time with a large feather toy. The best part: whenever a judge was making a final decision, the cats would stare at her or him like they were waiting to see if they won. It was hilarious. And whenever a ribbon was placed on a cage, the cat would start batting at it! More photos below if you’re interested in seeing what went on...
