Thrifted Thursday No. 41

Sweater, skirt and shoes: thrifted
Tights: Target
Lipstick: Revlon Kiss Me Coral

I haven’t done one of these posts in a while! But since I ended up wearing pretty much all thrifted things together in this outfit, I wanted to post it. Also, I like the outfit a lot, mainly because of the different orange shades (the rust tights and coral in the sweater’s embroidery and the lipstick).

In other exciting news, I can’t wait to get our taxes done. Jasen and I owed a lot last year because we had both been unemployed and freelanced for parts of 2011, and we couldn’t afford to pay the bill all at once and have been making payments…which at this point include crazy interest and penalties. I’m hoping we’ll get enough back this year to pay that debt off. I will be so happy if that happens, seriously.

1 Skirt 4 Ways

This is one of my favorite Quality Thrift pencil skirt finds…I love that it’s a golden “pencil” yellow and wear it to work a lot!

Bunny Business
Ha. Bunnies. I feel a little weird wearing this bunny top now that I’m past 30, but it is pretty cool. Maybe I should pull it out for the Easter season!

Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm
I think I like this outfit the best of the four, even though I sold the tank top at Crossroads because the pocket on the boob bothered me. That was a mistake…it actually was a cute top.

Aww, this sweater has a history. My friend Natasha and I both bought it at Charlotte Russe at least 10 years ago, before we became friends, but in different colors. When we started hanging out together at the writing center where we worked, we realized we both had it. I think hers fell apart in the wash eventually, and mine has a few (moth?) holes now so I don’t wear it.

I really like the yellow with this top and coral lipstick...I love when one article of clothing picks up a similar color in another article of clothing in an outfit without quite matching.

Floral and Denim

Top: Forever 21
Jeans: J Brand
Shoes: Aldo
Lipstick: Revlon Fire and Ice

This is a pretty basic outfit that I wore to a casual birthday party over the weekend, but I liked how it looked so I asked Jasen to take photos. I love wearing this top with red lipstick and shoes for some reason…I guess it’s how the red picks up from the pink or plays off the pink and green.

Not to Scale

Sweater: Forever 21
Skirt: thrifted Spiegel
Tights: Target
Shoes: thrifted Cappagallo
Lipstick: Revlon Love That Red

When I read tips about mixing prints, they always seem to mention that you should pair two prints of a similar scale. But I think a large print can work really well with a small print. Of course it’s easier when the prints are both black and white and graphic like the polka dots and houndstooth in this outfit.

Yellow Pencil

Sweater: thrifted Cuddle Knits
Skirt: thrifted Harvé Benard
Shoes: Miz Mooz from Nordstrom Rack
Lipstick: Revlon Kiss Me Coral

I’ve worn everything in this outfit many times but never together. The wool pencil skirt in particular gets worn to work a lot. It reminds me of something you’d see at J. Crew. But I could never actually wear a J. Crew pencil skirt because their bottoms (aside from fit and flare or pleated skirts) are cut too straight for my body type.

Work has been pretty calm this week…so calm that it has me freaking out about what’s going to happen next week when my two new bosses join the company. I’ve kind of enjoyed having fewer people tell me what to do, but that is all about to end!
