Mint and Lemon

Blouse: thrifted Forever 21
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: thrifted Naturalizer
Lipstick: Revlon Fire and Ice

I’ve been meaning to put this blouse and skirt together forever and finally got around to it. I really love how mint looks with yellow. This skirt used to belong to my friend Natasha, but I acquired it from her in one of our swaps. She has such a great eye for colors and prints! (Well, she is an animator/cartoonist/illustrator after all.)

Is it weird that almost all of my closest friends are artists? It kind of drives me crazy sometimes. They can all draw and paint so beautifully and I absolutely cannot! If I try to draw, the result looks like one of Napoleon Dynamite’s sketches. My mom and, I think, at least two of her sisters can draw too. My job is kind of artistic, I guess (I’m a fashion copywriter), but come on: I write to make people buy things. Hopefully someday I’ll write something that actually matters.

  1. Beautiful color combination and that skirt's print is gorgeous! :)
I have limited drawing skills, too, but this summer I'm working my way through a book called "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain." The author asserts that everyone can learn to draw. I'm not even halfway through the lessons, but it's exciting because I can see some positive changes in my drawings. :)

  3. oh heather, these colors together look great! i don't know that i'd have thought to pair them together, but it totally works! just catching up on some of your outfit posts...love your may favourites. and, by the way...i think you are artistic. and creative....i always hope that i am, too....people have different ways of artistic expression. yours is through expression of style.

  4. This is such a fun, summery color combination! You look really cute! You're definitely artistic too even if you aren't artistic in the drawing way. I always envied people who could draw really well too, though, so I understand!

  5. I'm sorry to hear that you know so many artists and are unable to do that. I can draw, but only in copying something already done rather than creating something on my own. It drives ME crazy because I'd love to be able to make original pieces but am unable to. This skirt looks so cute!!
