Top: thrifted
Skirt: thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: very old Seychelles
This paint-splatter belt is one of my favorite thrifted finds. It may not work with everything, but I was pleasantly surprised when I realized this morning that it looks pretty good with this top and skirt even though there’s a LOT of color going on. Well, at least I think so.
It’s weird how certain clothes will trigger memories, and not just because you wore them on special occasions. As soon as I picked out this belt today I thought of my 8th grade science experiment, which was titled “Splat!” and involved measuring the splatter patterns of substances of various viscosities dropped from the top of a ladder.
What a fun little memory. I link a lot of my clothes with memories as well...like I have a pair of floral leggings from H&M that I got when my friends and I took a day trip to San Francisco. And I have this adorable vintage pearl sweater that I bought the day my friend and I challenged each other to find each other full-on outfits from a thrift store. Such lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteI totally love that belt as well. So glad you finally got to put it with your outfit..and it looks great too!

I really love pattern-mixing when it's done well, and you've definitely hit the mark here. I would probably never think to pair that belt and shirt, but they look fantastic together!
ReplyDeleteYour science experiment sounds kind of amazing. [digression] You made me think of a 5th grade science project, in which our teacher asked us to make telephones. Everyone in the class came in with cups tied together with string. Except me, that is. My dad helped me use a soldering iron to turn a pair of headphones into functioning walkie talkies... I was a weird kid. ;) [/digression]
The neckline is divine! <3 I love the cute belt too!

That belt is super cool! The colors are incredibly fun. I really love your top too. Pretty colors in this outfit
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty belt! The kaleidoscope of colours is amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about clothes and accessories and why I treasure mine are the memories associated with them, so that's a great belt, not only because it is great, but because of what it reminded you of too :)
ReplyDeleteI love your Splat belt! What a great mix of patterns. :) That sounds like a pretty advanced project for a sixth grader! I think I was making baking soda volcanoes and dinosaur dioramas in the sixth grade. ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely skirt! :)

What, that belt is awesome!?! For some reason, the first time I was glancing through what you wrote and I thought that your belt was actually yours FROM middle school and I was like "Your middle school clothing still fits you? That's crazy!" But now I see that it was just an amazing thrift store find, which makes more sense.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit, such great finds. That belt is adorable!

ReplyDeleteso cute! i love the mixed patterns. i'm terrible at that but you've mastered it. btw, my tripod is broken so it isn't documented, but i thought to myself this morning, "i'm wearing a very 29 skirts outfit today." j crew tank, thrifted bright green skirt, and old seychelles. :-)
