Dots and Lines

Blouse: thrifted
Skirt: thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: Target
Bag: Tignanello

Bleh, I really don’t like how my hair looks today, but I’m posting a photo anyway! It’s hot and my hair has grown to an annoying, difficult-to-straighten length in back, so I decided to be lazy and let my hair air dry. I feel like it’s not long enough yet to look good curly, though.

Okay, sorry, enough complaining. At least I’m wearing my favorite skirt. Yeah, this is the skirt in my blog header. And I put a photo of it there because it’s my favorite. (I’ve probably mentioned that before, but I feel like maybe I haven’t.) Since I love blue and green together, I decided to combine it with this thrifted Ann Taylor blouse because I’ve never worn the two pieces together before.

Does anyone else tape the flapping ends of belts down? I started doing this recently with very sticky packing tape, and it’s worked great! I just wrap a little piece around itself so I have two sticky sides and then place it between the part of the belt around my waist and the end sticking out from the buckle. I hate when the end of my belt is sticking out and flapping back and forth. Maybe it’s kind of tacky (I know, I know) to tape part of my outfit together, but I say why not if no one can see it?

  1. I love a good high waisted pleated skirt. This combo is to cute.
Also I have never taped down a belt, but the flapping about annoys me to no end. So I may have to try this.

  2. That is so clever about the taping belt idea. I would've never known. I've always just let the belt hang loose, not even caring about it but mentally being irritated by its awkward flappiness. I will definitely look into this.

And I love the color of that skirt. I can see why you adore it so. :)

  3. Yeah, I really like your taping idea too! There's not always a loop for it and it looks sloppy if it's just flopping around. You are so smart!

I love that skirt- that color probably goes with so much!

  6. I think your hair looks super cute and retro, you look like you could be a flapper lady.

I pin my belts! They always come up otherwise. (I've taped holes in my clothes back together, so I can't judge anyone for using tape with outfits!)

  7. That blouse looks so nice on you and I really like your hair wavy like that! I've never tried taping my belts down, but my sister uses hair ties to somehow do it. I just let them flap or make sure they tuck into some belt loops!

  8. I tape my belts too! My mum taught me to do it with double-sided tape. Scotch tape works just as well. ;) I like this outfit of yours. There's something retro yet modern about it.

  15. That's a great idea for belts... you're a genius! Also, I would never have noticed that your header was a skirt, although I guess with the name of your blog that would make sense....
