Yeah, I know, black again! As you can tell from the title, I had an interview today, so I decided to post what I wear to interviews on my blog. I kind of have a superstition about wearing a green top and black skirt to interviews because that’s what I was wearing when I landed my last two full-time jobs.
So obviously I’m not really wearing a suit but rather a black cardigan and skirt. Since I work in a creative field (copywriting), I feel comfortable dressing in a way that’s a little more fun and relaxed but still professional. I like to wear this blouse in particular because I feel like the pattern on it says, “I’m creative...but organized.” Haha, that’s probably ridiculous of me, but I guess I feel more in control if I’m wearing a carefully planned outfit.
Now I’m going to conclude with a typical blogger tactic and ask, “What do you like to wear when you interview for a job?”
I love your interview outfit! It's smart but has plenty of personality. I'm disastrous when it comes to interview outfits. I actually had to borrow clothes from my mother for my last interview as I basically had nothing dressy enough/suitable to wear! The folders in your arms definitely add a touch of 'I know my stuff' :)
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't employ you, you look lovely. I always wear a classic little black dress when I go for any interviews. Boring I know but so is the financial industry.
ReplyDeleteI usually opt for something black, too. Lovely ensemble (as always!) and I hope your superstitious color combination works in your favor :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thank you for sharing that sweet bird story with me! It was so sweet.
You look super cute. I miss you. A lot.
ReplyDeletei can't even tell you the last time i had an interview. but i wore khakis, a button up and a blazer. this time i'd probably wear a dress, a cardigan, and flats.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview outfit. Best of luck! I usually like to wear a pencil skirt with a tailored button up shirt. I always feel too stuffy wearing suits.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely wonderful! Good luck missy :)

you look so good! i would definitely hire you that's for sure. :) good luck in the interview-- hope you get the job!
ReplyDeletecute! you're definitely getting across the "creative-but-organized" vibe :) good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I would totes hire you! Hope it went well :)
ReplyDeleteMy mother has me convinced that you should never go to an interview in anything less that a suit. She made me go buy a really expensive one for job interviews when I was like 18. I had to get another when I graduated. I'm basically convinced that's a load of BS now.
Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteI hope your interview went well! That blouse adds a fresh pop of colour and is very professional-looking at the same time. For me, I usually have to put on a suit in a serious dark hue like black for interviews due to my line of work. :(
good luck with the interview! this outfit is perfect - clean, professional, with just a touch of color and plenty of style. i can see why it's your go-to.
ReplyDeletei've always interviewed at either bakeries or creative places, so i pretty much wear what i typically would - carefully avoiding super short-shorts, though.
Your last sentence made me laugh. "Now I'm going to conclude..."
ReplyDeleteI totally think about the same things when I interview. You want to look like a professional version of yourself. And I really love that top.
hope the interview went well..you look very cute.
ReplyDeletei usually opt for a dress when i am going to an interview.
This is the perfect choice for a job interveiw, it's professional yet it's a little fun & shows your character.
ReplyDeleteI usually go for a dress with a blazer style jacket for interviews.
I really love the detailing on your black skirt. It makes it really unique. And the print on your top is great too! I don't know what I'd wear to an interview yet but I'm sure I'll have to think about that within the next few months.
