Peggy Olson Picnic Plaid

Dress: thrifted vintage
Necklace: belonged to my grandmother
Bag: thrifted
Shoes: Urban Outfitters

I’ve been shy about wearing this vintage dress that I found at Quality Thrift because of its brightness, but I finally decided to be LOUD in orange, yellow, green and red picnic plaid. I know I’ve seen Peggy Olson wear a dress or dresses like this on Mad Men in more demure tones. I like to think this is the California version of her drop-waist picnic plaid dress(es), with its citrus colors.

I don’t think my grandma would approve of my wearing her pearls with this dress. My mom’s mom was a black and white, Chanel-inspired kind of lady. So I felt a little wrong adding them to this outfit even though, really, this dress just HAD to be worn with a strand of pearls and this is the only strand I have.

  6. THIS DRESS IS PERFECTION.

Btw, my mom is sorting through LITERALLY a garbage bag FULL of costume jewelry from my grandma- would you like any pieces? I thought of you, I haven't seen anything, but even after everyone gets a sentimental piece there will be too much for all of us. Maybe you can do something fun with it!

@Regina, I couldn't comment here for 2-3 days either! I think it was a weird Blogger bug.

  7. Thanks for all the nice comments about the dress, everyone! I remember liking it a lot when I first tried it on, but then I kept putting off wearing it.

@lostsailors: If you would otherwise give a lot of the pieces away, sure, I will take something. Thank you for offering! I've been interested in working more jewelry into my outfits.

  9. @29 Skirts: My mom is supposed to send me some pictures, we'll see if she can work out how to do it with her new iPhone! If not, I'm going home in a week so I'll just look for you. You'll have to let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like!
