Etsy Update

Pasadena Vintage has new items! I’ve added shoes for the first time too. It’s hard to find good ones, but I’ve finally collected a few pairs I really like and would keep if they fit me. Anyway, here are a few of the latest arrivals...

In Love With

Dress: Plenty by Tracy Reese
Tights: Target
Shoes: Target
Lipstick: Revlon Rose Velvet

I got really obsessed with this Tracy Reese dress when I saw it on Modcloth over the summer, but it was way too expensive for me at full price. Then it got marked down a lot, and since I’d been stalking it for months and had just received a bonus at work, I decided to finally buy it.

I don’t fall in love with too many dresses, but this one just did it for me…the details are so cool! The one thing that kind of bugs me is that I only feel right wearing nude lipstick with it. Red lips seem like too much with this intense coral color. And I feel kind of dead without darker lips since I don’t wear eye makeup. I still love the dress, though, and the quality is awesome.

Now I’m going to be annoying and show off this latte with a heart that Jasen made for me the other morning!

He used to work as a barista over a decade ago, before we met, and we recently bought one of those little stovetop espresso makers, so he’s been making us and our friends and family lattes all the time. He even has a small collection of Torani syrups and decorative sprinkles lined up on our kitchen counter now. Aww, he’s such a sweet guy…

1 Skirt 4 Ways

I haven’t worn this skirt in months because it’s sitting in my car trunk waiting to be dry cleaned. So I decided to do one of these posts about it because I miss wearing it.

Diamonds Are a Sweater's Best Friend
This outfit is from my second month of blogging, back in 2011. I ended up selling the sweater in my Etsy shop, and I kind of regret it because it’s really cool. But I sold it to my friend, so I guess I could always buy it back from her when she’s tired of it!

Another Month Finished
This is probably one of my favorite outfits ever, although unfortunately the shirt shrunk way too much in the wash and I had to give it away. I like how this skirt looks with the red shoes and fuchsia flowers.

Hey, this skirt looks pretty good with rust tights. I’d forgotten about that. I’ll have to do this again once I finally dry clean the skirt.

Aaaand, yeah, I like wearing this skirt with stripes. I guess this is, like, the summer version of the winter outfit above.

The '90s Called

Top: thrifted Classiques Entier
Skirt: thrifted Express
Handbag: Tignanello via eBay
Shoes: Aldo
Lipstick: Revlon Love That Red

A new skirt! I found this one at Quality Thrift, and I love the ’90s-ness of its pattern and colors. There’s also something kind of Space Age about it, I think. I guess it’s not very creative to pair it with a black top and flats, but I really prefer it like this.

PS: In response to Heather’s comment on my last blog post, those polka dotted jeans I was wearing are by a brand I’ve never heard of called D. Jeans, and I found them at Marshalls!

Granny Sweater

Sweater: Forever 21
Jeans: D. Jeans
Socks: Forever 21
Shoes: Naturalizer
Lipstick: Revlon Love That Red

The peach of this sweater is more vibrant in real life, so much so that…I think it might be a granny sweater. It reminds me of my dad’s mom’s bathroom at the house where he grew up, which looked like it hadn’t been redecorated since the early ’60s. And I didn’t even find this sweater at a thrift store. It’s from Forever 21.

It’s actually been “cold” in Southern California lately, which is why I’m wearing socks with Mary Janes. I don’t own any boots. I need to buy some, but I can’t seem to find the right pair, plus then I’d have to figure out how to wear them with my wardrobe and I’m kind of clueless about styling boots.

Which Came First?

Sweater: thrifted The Limited
Scarf: J. Crew
Skirt: thrifted and shortened
Tights: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Naturalizer
Lipstick: Revlon Blackberry

I can’t remember if I bought this sweater (from Quality Thrift) before or after I got married to Jasen, but I wore it this past weekend to go out for our seven-year anniversary. It’s one of those pieces I keep thinking about giving away but can’t part with even though I don’t wear it much. I’m glad I’ve held onto it, though, because I like how it looks with this skirt and hadn’t ever thought to put them together before.

Our anniversary was pretty awesome…nothing crazy since we can’t afford to travel, just a couple of our favorite things: food and comedy. We went to the North Woods Inn for dinner and then to a stand-up show at The Laugh Factory in Hollywood, which was surprisingly easy to get to and park at. The lineup included Jeff Garlin and Sebastian, and everyone who performed was great.

The live comedy in L.A. is definitely one of my favorite things about living here. The traffic is horrific and it’s dirty and “fake,” but you can see standup, improv, sketch shows, whatever, very affordably any night of the week. And Southern California also has amazing food; you can basically get any kind of cuisine somewhere.

Chambray in Winter

Headband: Target
Dress: Forever 21
Sweater: Forever 21
Tights: Target
Shoes: Aldo
Lipstick: Revlon Love That Red

I feel like I’ve been so lazy lately, hardly posting on my blog at all. And I need to update my Etsy shop too. I have a bunch of items photographed but not measured or described. Well, it’s a new year and the holidays are over, so I’ll have to get to it!

This seemed like a pretty good outfit to start off 2013. I’ve been wearing this chambray dress under sweaters a lot, and I just picked up this new white sweater at Forever 21 as an exchange for a Christmas gift that didn’t fit. To be honest, I’ve been wearing jeans much more often, too, ever since I acquired some J Brand pairs that fit well, and I’ve been looking for longish sweaters and tops to go with them.

I don’t know about you, but I’m really hoping this year is better than the last. A couple good things have happened recently that might make it possible, which are that everyone who stressed me out at work has now left the company and Jasen now has an acting agent. Also, my sister, Hillary, is getting married in Washington state this summer, where a lot of our family lives, and it’s going to be so effing beautiful, and you’d better believe I’ll be posting photos on here! I can’t wait to see everyone up north!
